Across America

While road-tripping from Chicago to Portland I began a photo series I would later title Across America. This series is a personal project using film photography to capture the nostalgic feeling of people traveling across the continent. Growing up on an Island the landforms on the continent are in such contrast to what Iā€™m used to. In this series, I explore rural America a place that feels so foreign to the world I knew back home. I focused on expansive fields that stretch all the way to the horizon, rows of crops that grow into the sunset, railroads, and wires that have no end. The furthest I could drive in a day was maybe three hours with traffic back on Kauai. To see the earth continue for days transforming from grasslands, to train yards, mountains, and beyond is truly astonishing and fuels my energy for exploration.
