Roaring Cafe: Branding Concept

The Project

Roaring Cafe was a design concept I made while studying at Portland State University. The project was based around a historic 1920s building in Portland, OR. I used the art and style of the roaring ‘20s to influence my choices for a modern cafe that brings back the lively public life of the past. I focused mainly on the thin lines and luxurious color pallets of art deco allowing for more empty space to add a modern feel. In this project, I created a custom font, logo, and signage using Illustrator and Photoshop to create media examples and printables. Finally, using Indesign I wrap it all up into a printed branding book.

Alternative logos; the circle mark is used for profile photos, icons, and is simplified for instant recognition. The wide mark is for long banners and small branding on products but can be used as an alternative to the regular logo for added flourish.

Colors plucked out of gems, dresses, and posters of the ‘20s with a matte finish to create a bright color palette full of energy that still feels relaxing in a space together.
